Reading blends can be tricky some times. Take your time and sound out the words. The first story is a silly story about a cat. The second one is a news article in a newspaper. The story happens in Massachusetts. I know that because the first thing after the title is says "Trent, Mass." That is short for Trent, Massachusetts. Most news articles tell you where the story is happening. There is also an idiom in the story. "The odds are slim, but the local man plans to win."
What do you think that means?
It means he is not likely to win, but he is going to try anyway.

If you don't have a printer, just write out the sentences with the correct words from the word bank at the top. If you do have a printer feel free to print it out and do the worksheet. Then take a picture and email it to your teacher.
